Camp Kalahari
Makgadikgadi Pans, Kalahari
Camp Kalahari is nestled amongst the acacias and Mokolwane palms of Brown Hyena Island, on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Salt Plans adjacent to the national park.
The camp offers an excellent Makgadikgadi experience for those who want a bit of adventure without sacrificing comfort and style. The six simple but spacious meru tents have en suite bathrooms, comfy beds, crisp cotton sheets and hot water bottles in the winter. There is no electricity which means the camp retains a rustic edge and allows you to enjoy an authentic experience of the pans.
The style of the camp is refreshingly simple with the emphasis on cosy comfort and traditional style. Guests can relax in a traditionally built thatch library, living and dining area. There is also a separate lounge strewn with cushions where you can unwind after your activities.
Activities from Camp Kalahari vary enormously and are organised both by guides and researchers. There's the chance to view the shy brown hyena and curious meerkats, watch the earth's shadow grow as the sun sets over the Kalahari and lie on a salt pan (in the dry season) watching the stars. In addition to these there is Bushmen interaction and much more besides, but to unveil the magical secrets of Camp Kalahari you must visit yourself!
Camp Kalahari is owned by Uncharted Africa who run Jack's and San Camp. This latest addition to their portfolio is more simple in style but offers the same excellent service, food and activities.
