Shinde Camp
Shinde Concession
Shinde Camp is nestled on a vast palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta, surrounded by clear waterways teeming with birdlife and game.
The camp has eight spacious, twin-bedded safari style tents raised up on decks overlooking the Delta, all with lovely en-suite bathrooms. The camp has recently enjoyed a total refurbishment and inside each tent you'll find fabrics in subtle and natural hues, wonderfully firm mattresses, bedside tables, an open armoire for clothes and a luggage rack.
Three of the tents make up The Enclave, which is set a little further away from the main lodge and has its own deck and small dining area. This can be booked as a private camp with completely independent activities, dining and guide. Alternatively, when the camp is full, extra guests are put into The Enclave tents, but still use the main lodge, dine with all the other guests and use a shared guide. The tents in The Enclave are the same as the other five at Shinde.
The open sided central self-service bar and dining area is built on an impressive structure comprising raised wooden decking on various levels, rising towards a canvas roof that's bowed, a little like an old ox-wagon. The camp also has a swimming pool and small curio shop. Shinde boasts a great range of wildlife and a wide variety of activities, including game drives in open 4WD's and walking safaris.
Mokoros and boat trips are also a highlight in the area, while boat trips to Gadikwe Island heronry, which is approximately one hour away, are also possible during the nesting season.
