Our Tailor-made suggestions for this itinerary are:

  • Extend your trip with three nights at the Victoria Falls. Stay on the Zimbabwe side at the famous Victoria Falls Hotel and enjoy cream teas on the terrace watching the spray rise from the Falls.
  • For a total contrast to the Delta explore the Kalahari Desert either at the start or end of your trip.

Highlights of this itinerary

  • Take an early morning mokoro trip and float along papyrus lined channels watching little bee-eaters, kingfishers, lily trotters and silver fish in the sparkling water below.
  • Fall asleep to the sound of hippos grunting and hyenas calling.
  • Seek out big game such as lion, leopard, buffalo, giraffe and more on the open plains.

Day by Day

Day 1London

You will fly overnight from London to Johannesburg.

Day 2Johannesburg - Maun - Gunn's Concession

On arrival in Johannesburg you will connect onto a flight to Maun. From here you will fly in light aircraft to the Gunns Concession in the Okavango Delta. The flight takes around 15 minutes. You will be able to spend the afternoon enjoying your first game drive.

Day 3Gunn's Concession

You have a whole day to enjoy exploring the area by means of mokoro or on foot. Mokoro trips are a peaceful way to explore the waterways. Birds in the Delta are beautiful and you are likely to see bee-eaters, kingfishers, lily trotters, gallinules and more.

Day 4Gunn's Concession

Another day to explore this lovely area with your guides.

Day 5Gunn's Concession - Modumo Concession

After a morning safari activity you will fly on to the north of the Delta and stay in the game rich area of Mapula Lodge. This beautiful lodge overlooks seasonal floodplains and is known for its good game densities.

Day 6Modumo Concession

A full day to enjoy exploring the area surrounding camp by means of game drives in open 4x4s, night drives, walking safaris and mokoro trips (seasonal depending on flood levels).

Day 7Modumo Concession

A day of safari activities from Mapula Lodge.

Day 8Modumo Concession - Maun - Johannesburg

After a morning game activity you will be flown back to Maun to catch your flight to Johannesburg. You will then fly from Johannesburg to London on an overnight flight.

Day 9London

You will arrive back in the UK in the early morning.
