Flowers in the Kalahari Desert: 31-10-2007

Visiting Botswana in November and in particular the
Kalahari Desert is an unforgettable experience and taking a safari will allow visitors to see this normally inhospitable environment transform into an oasis.
The Khutse Game Reserve is a great place to witness the change that occurs when the rains come to the land.
A guide and an off-road vehicle will lead visitors into the park and are the tools needed to get the best view of the animals and the flowers that spring up during the rainy season.
Antelope herds, ostrich and smaller animals are the most likely game to be spotted as well as the world's heaviest flying bird, the kori bustard.
The Kalahari covers more than two-thirds of Botswana and receives little rain fall but underground water reserves mean that it is mostly scrubby grassland.
If visitors are keen on seeing more of the African landscape and its animal inhabitants, a trip to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve will lead to lions, wildebeest, antelope, lions, leopards and cheetahs.
