Places to See and Stay: The Okavango Delta - Botswana

Add to Travel PlannerPuku in the Jao Concession

Deep in the heart of Botswana you can find lagoons filled with lilies surrounded by long labyrinths of water ways, this is the Okavango Delta. The Delta is an incredible location for viewing Africa’s amazing wildlife, such as lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and the semi-aquatic red lechwe antelope. The Delta covers over 15,000 square kiliometers when the waters are at their highest and it is divided into a number of private concessions created to protect the unique wildlife of this area. One of the highlights of the Delta is to sit back and relax as you are gently 'poled' through the mysterious reed banks in a traditional mokoro boat, passing kingfishes, crocodiles and other wildlife. The Okavango Delta is home to over 250 birds including several rare species, making this a bird watchers paradise.
