Safari wildlife of Kenya
In comparison with many other African countries, Kenya ranks high in the numbers game with
staggering concentrations of wildlife. There are millions of wildebeest, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelle and thousands of buffalo, eland, topi, giraffe, gerenuk and kudu. Kenya has large elephant populations and both black and white rhino. Its big cats are renowned, with many made famous through Big Cat Diary.
Large prides of lion are a common sight, and cheetah and leopard are often seen. There are many endemic and endangered species such as Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx, Hirola antelope, Grevy’s zebra and Rothschild’s giraffe. The birdlife is among the richest in Africa, with over a thousand species.
