Places to See and Stay: Marlin Lodge - Bazaruto Archipelago

Marlin Lodge is situated above a deep sandy beach on Benguerra Island. It is a very friendly and relaxed lodge with an unpretentious atmosphere. Marlin has 21 chalets along the beach, connected to the lodge by raised wooden walkways. Inside, they are very comfortable with polished wooden floors, large beds with mosquito nets, wardrobes, comfortable chairs and piping hot showers in the en suite bathrooms. Fluffy towels are provided for the bath and beach, as are shampoos, soaps, conditioners and other toiletries. Each chalet has a small veranda and sandy path leading straight onto the beach. As well as classic rooms, there are six luxury chalets and four spacious suites that have similar decor and open plan bathrooms. The lodge has a lounge, bar and dining room. The food at Marlin is excellent and plentiful with spicy seafood dishes a speciality. There's a small pool with sun deck and dive and snorkel centre as well as a well equipped fishing centre.

Activities at Marlin include diving, snorkelling, game fishing and 4WD trips exploring the dunes. Or if its relaxation you are after, you could try their wellness centre or just a sleep in a hammock. It's also possible to take a trip over to Vilanculos to explore the market - it's a good place to practice your bartering skills, although whether you actually want to buy a sack of sweet potatoes is another matter!
