Mozambique

Ibo Island Lodge employs three magnificent refurbished mansions, each over a century old with high lofty ceilings. The large, en-suite, air conditioned rooms are individually designed, boasting antiques and handcrafted furniture. Meals are taken in the dining room, on the verandas or the rooftop terraces, all of which have wonderful views over the ocean. By staying on the island you can experience Ibo and witness a way of life that hasn’t changed for hundreds of years. It is not a white sand beach experience, rather a cultural stay to enjoy a historic island that was part of the slave trading route and later used as a Portuguese administrative outpost. Guests can explore the crumbling colonial townhouses, visit the imposing Portuguese fort and watch the skilled local craftsmen producing delicate silver jewellery.
