Serra Cafema, The Skeleton Coast

Serra Cafema Camp is located in the extreme north-west of Namibia. The camp’s Portuguese name comes from the mountains that dominate the skyline. The Kunene River is the only permanent source of water in the whole region and the river creates a lush oasis along its banks surrounded by rugged mountains and sand dunes.

Under big, shady albida trees you will find an exclusive, luxurious and peaceful camp with all the comforts in fully furnished Meru tents with en suite bathroom facilities. The camp's eight tents are raised off the ground and have large private decks. There is a small swimming pool, dining room and bar. The camp is located just inland from the Atlantic Ocean and the Skeleton Coast and the cool winds that blow from the Atlantic help to keep the camp cool even in summer.

There are numerous activities possible from Serra Cafema. Time is spent in breath-taking landscape scenes in the Hartmann Valley to the south of the camp, with herds of springbok, ostrich and even leopard. Activities include nature drives on the sand dunes and boat trips on the Kunene River where you may well see crocodiles basking the river banks. Walking trails in the remote mountain and river valleys are a highlight as are excursions to meet with the local Himba families who live nearby. Quad biking across this stunning landscape is also an unforgettable activity.
