Places to See and Stay: Principe - Sao Tome and Principe

Principe beach

Príncipe is the smaller of the two major islands of São Tomé and Príncipe. It has a population of around 5,000 people, most of whom live and work in and around the island's only town, Santo António. Volcanic in nature, the island is thickly forested and includes in the south the Obo National Park. The north and centre of the island were formerly plantations but are now also largely forest. The languages other than Portuguese includes Principense or Lunguyê, with a few Forro speakers.
