South Africa has a wealth of attractions that bring travellers back time and again. A quick sample would include the vibrant city of Cape Town, nestling in the shadow of Table Mountain, and the gateway to the starkly beautiful Cape Peninsula. Behind the mountain lie the dappled vineyards and gastronomic delights of the Winelands and further east is the Garden Route, where sheer river canyons cut through darkly forested mountains down to a tumultuous coast.

The legendary battlefields of Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift are a key attraction of KwaZulu-Natal, as are the wildlife parks and reserves, part of a huge network of expertly managed conservation areas including the Kruger Park, mainly accessed from Mpumalanga, one of the oldest, largest, and most diverse parks in Africa, the Pilansberg with hidden valleys and volcanic hills and the Kgalagadi, with cascading ranks of sand dunes, criss-crossed with the tracks of hardy and elusive wildlife, both found in The North.
