Cape Town celebrates its diverse culture: 18-04-2008

Cape Town celebrates its diverse culture18558957April sees the annual celebration of the Cape Town Festival, an event intended to explore some of the country's best culture.

Taking place from April 25th to 27th, the festival is a fusion of arts and culture with a wide variety of events to entertain visitors whatever their tastes, including a range of theatre productions and plenty of different exhibits at the city's museums.

In 2008, the festival is going back to its roots with the "One City Many Cultures" project.

According to the event organisers, this project aims to promote tolerance and integration between different cultural groups throughout Cape Town, and this year's festival aims to bring out the best in the city's vibrant traditions.

"The Festival should appeal to the needs of people from diverse backgrounds and provide skills and training education in line with the cultural industries vision in South Africa. It will also promote the vision of One City Many Cultures, which is a more tolerant, diverse and integrated city," said Ryland Fisher, former editor of the Cape Times and chairperson of the festival.
