Cape Town in bloom for flower show18332888The Cape Town Flower and Garden Show is much more than the name suggests, with not only gardens to be enjoyed but also wines and first-class food from all around the world to savour against a soundtrack of classical music.

From October 24th to 28th the six hectares of the Lourensford Wine Estate will be carpeted with plants and flowers, with showcases of the most modern innovations in horticulture in Southern Africa.

Last year over 24,000 visitors attended the annual event, which celebrates gardening, nature and art, with horticultural lectures and demonstrations from respected authors and stars of the gardening world.

As well as the world-class show gardens, there will be a market and picnic areas with a special tasting marquee, where cheese, wines and olives can be sampled.

Fresh salads, pancakes and falafels are among the lighter refreshments on sale, while those with a heartier appetite can partake of Cape Malay cuisine, Thai curries, German sausages and seafood.

Awards and certificates will be presented to exhibitors, with a special Aliverti Trophy for the most outstanding entry in the show garden category.
