National Arts Festival in South Africa: 27-03-2008

National Arts Festival in South Africa18525583While a luxury trip to South Africa will be mainly associated with going on safari, travellers will also find plenty of culture to keep them entertained.

One of these events takes place in the capital of the Klein Karoo region, Oodtshoorn.

The region is mainly famous for its ostrich farms but the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival takes place there every March.

Concerts, drama, and dance events can be expected with more than 750 artists displaying their creative talents.

Most of the performances are in Afrikaans meaning travellers get a great chance to enjoy some truly traditional South African entertainment.

Arts and crafts are the focus of a market area and a small food and wine festival makes the event a well-rounded affair that caters for all.

It wouldn't be Africa without some animals involved and the region's ostrich are thrown into the event for good measure.

Visitors can watch ostrich races and the adventurous traveller can even have a ride on one.
