Pilgrim's Rest is a funny little town which has not changed since the gold-panning rush. You can stop for lunch followed by a go at gold-panning if you like - you might get lucky!

Mpumalanga is home to some of the most impressive scenery in South Africa, as well as containing the most popular areas of the Kruger Park and adjacent private game reserves.
Geographically, the province is dominated by the Escarpment, the northern extension of the KwaZulu-Natal Drakensberg, which divides the grassy Highveld plateau from the Lowveld region that stretches out towards Mozambique and the Indian Ocean. It’s an area of dramatic canyons and stunning views, superb hiking country, but also shelters smaller attractions, delightful walks and mountain towns rich with the history of the early settlers. At Pilgrim's Rest you can enjoy a Victorian mining town, prefectly preserved, whilst throughout the region spectacular waterfalls crash into foaming pools.
