Tanzania has a pleasant tropical climate.
As it is near the equator there is little temperature fluctuation between summer and winter, with temperatures ranging from about 25C to 30C all year round. There are regional variations, with the coastal belt being hotter and more humid, inland areas dryer and cooler, and the mountains chilly at night.
Tanzania’s rain falls mainly between November and May. The rains can be divided into the short rains (November and December) and long rains (February to early May). During the short rains downpours tend to be quick before the sun comes out again. During the long rains downpours can last for hours or even days and we do not recommend travel during this time.
