British schoolchildren help plant trees in Uganda: 28-08-2007

Pupils from Derby have travelled to Uganda to help with a conservation project, according to Ugandan newspaper New Vision.
A group of 26 students from Derby's Chellaston School visited the village of Jjezza in the district of Mityana in central Uganda with their teacher Richard Karran.
They hoped to contribute to tackling the deforestation in the area by planting trees in the region. This is as part of an African travel agency's conservation policy for tourists to be more aware of their environmental contribution.
One of the students, Anya Biggins, said: "I am very happy to visit this beautiful country. Now that I have planted a tree, it will work as a monument for my visit to Uganda and I hope to come and see it again."
Uganda is home to Lake Victoria, several national parks, three forests and a branch of the Nile river, as well as great game viewing.
