Wildebeest migration on the Liuwa Plains: 31-10-2007

Africa is one of the most spectacular environments in the world and taking a safari trip to Liuwa Plains National Park in Zambia is one that will live up to all expectations.
During the rainy season, which begins in November, the park is home to the second largest wildebeest migration in the world where around 35,000 blue wildebeest meet on the Plains.
The herd moves along in a vast group followed by inquisitive predators looking to catch any stragglers that might stray from the main group.
The Plains cover about 3,660 square kilometres of sweeping grassland, with the odd strand of trees breaking up the horizon.
Antelope, zebra, buffalo and birds inhabit the water sources near the wildebeest and an organised safari is essential to enjoy the experience safely and to its utmost.
The Zambian tourist board describe the area as untouched by the commercial aspects of tourism and arriving on the Plains for the migration is surely one of the outstanding wildlife moments to witness across the planet.
