Samburu Intrepids
Samburu National Reserve
Samburu Intrepids has a lovely situation on the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro River, and the overall feeling is of a place that is shady and cool, peaceful and relaxing.
The main lodge is built in a grove of trees, and thus trunks and branches reach through the expanses of wooden decking. There is an open sided leafy dining room and small bar area where slide shows are presented each evening. Set back from the river is a pretty pool area, perfect for the heat of the day.
Intrepids has 27 tents, all of which are raised on decks. Most of the tents are under shady trees and look towards the river although the view is obscured by trees. Each tent has a four poster bed, en suite bathroom and deck with comfortable chairs.
There are many activities that are available from the lodge. In an area of rich game, the main focus is game drives, however short walks and camel treks to local villages can also be arranged. In the evenings a number of educational slide shows are put on for those interested in the park, Samburu culture and the wildlife.
