Hotel du Louvre

Antananarivo

The Hotel du Louvre is a comfortable little hotel in a smart neighbourhood not far from the President's Palace and with views over Independence Gardens.

A flight of stairs leads up from the cobbled streets to the wood-panelled reception area. Above are the hotel's 66 air conditioned rooms that are clean, comfortable and functional. The standard rooms are fairly small and simply furnished with en suite bathrooms, a double or twin bed, and satellite TV. There are also a handful of luxe rooms which are larger and have king-sized beds; a few luxe rooms also have small terraces and all have baths and showers. Wandering along the hotel corridors, guests look out over a pretty little courtyard, where breakfast is served each morning.

Behind large French doors lies the dining area, which serves as a bar, cafe and sitting room for the hotel. There are cosy wooden booths inside and a scattering of tables outside for the warmer weather.

The atmosphere is always bustling with local businessmen popping in and out for coffee, and guests spending long afternoons relaxing with a book.
