The Four Seasons Resort Mauritius is a luxurious new hotel, opened in October 2008 in the private Anahita Wilderness Sanctuary, which stretches along four miles of uninterrupted shoreline on the east coast of Mauritius.

With blanketed green hills as the backdrop to a vast lagoon sheltered by coral reef barriers, this is one of the most stunning areas on the island.

Accommodation is made up of three types of villas with private plunge pools, plus an opulent Presidential Suite and a small number of two and three bedroom residence villas. The villas are all extremely spacious and stylish, with open plan bathrooms, outdoor showers and al fresco sitting areas.

Some are set in the landscaped gardens, others amongst picturesque mangroves that surround parts of the resort, while the 60 Lagoon Villas are all beautifully located on a private island, Ile Aux Chats, with panoramic views of the lagoon and the natural mangrove formation.

Nothing has been left to chance in terms of service and luxury, with the Four Seasons group aiming to make the hotel the finest of the wide selection of five star accommodations available in Mauritius.

As you would expect from a Four Seasons Resort, the facilities are extensive. The water sports centre offers kite surfing, snorkelling and sailing whilst the PADI dive centre arranges trips for everyone from the novice to experienced diver. There is a fitness centre, three different beaches, walking trails and a wonderful spa, with twelve treatment rooms on stilts above the water.

Those just looking to relax can do so beside one of the four swimming pool, on the beach or borrow books, CDs and DVDs from the extensive library. There is also an extensive Kid's Club and entertainment programme which makes the resort extremely family friendly.

Right in the middle of the Anahita Reserve is a superb golf course, designed by Ernie Els and boasting a number of picturesque holes surrounded on three sides by the ocean. After a long day of golf, water sports, exploring the reserve or just relaxing on the beach, there are four restaurants to choose from, serving a wide range of cuisine that reflects all of the cultural and culinary influences that have come to bear on Mauritius.
