Our country specialists have travelled the length and breadth of Mozambique - here are a few of their favourite things to do
Mozambique is wild, beautiful, undeveloped and has mile upon mile of palm-fringed white beaches.
There are tiny villages where ngalawas are moored to mangrove trees, tailors sew dhow sails on old Singer sewing machines and children play football in sandy squares.
Offshore, there are small islands where nomadic fishermen built makeshift huts and turtles come ashore to nest.
Two of Mozambique’s archipelagos – the Bazaruto & Quirimba Archipelagos, have a few small lodges on. These are very low key with cottages under baobabs and where swimsuits, a snorkel mask and bare feet are the regular dress code.
Nothing works like clockwork but if you want to explore a country before others discover it, Mozambique is the place for you.

The Bazaruto Archipelago consists of five dune islands, strung out in the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. It's ideal for diving and snorkelling; the coral is pristine and fish life superb.

The Quirimba Archipelago is made up of 32 coral islands just off the coast of northern Mozambique. The wildlife is superb and you can see green and hawksbill turtles, humpback whales and the rare dugong.
