Erongo Wilderness Lodge
The Central Highlands
Erongo Wilderness Lodge is located amid granite formations on the outskirts of an ancient volcano.
These are the Erongo Mountains - a spectacular feature in the heart of a country renowned for its scenic beauty. Flanked by the Namib Desert to the west and mixed-woodland savannah to the east, the mountains form a rare confluence of ecosystems that give rise to remarkable biodiversity, including a vast array of plant, reptile, mammal and bird species that are endemic to Namibia.
The lodge has ten tented chalets, built on stilts around the hills. Each chalet is tucked away in its own niche amongst the rocks, ensuring peace, privacy and exclusivity. The tents are large and comfortable and situated under steep thatched roofs for shade. The en suite bathrooms are crafted around the existing rocks and trees. Raised lit walkways and natural stone steps connect the chalets to the main area. On top of a kopje is a restaurant and small swimming pool. Guests are able to view a multitude of animals at the floodlit waterhole particularly the resident porcupines.
Activities focus on walking and nature drives. Walking is led by guides who will share their knowledge of the local fauna, flora, and folklore on walks over granite domes and through rich valleys. You can also visit the rock art at Paula's Cave for an interesting insight into the history of the area.
