Namutoni
Etosha National Park
Namutoni is based around a beautiful old fort on the eastern side of Etosha Pan.
The fort was originally built as a German police post at the turn of the century and then later used as an army base during World War I. It was converted into a rest camp in the fifties.
The rooms at Namutoni are of a good standard each with comfortable beds and en suite bathrooms. In addition to the rooms there is also a shop, restaurant, petrol station, swimming pool and campsite. Namutoni has a pretty waterhole which is frequented in the dry season by large numbers of giraffe, zebra and elephant. There is also a new viewing deck on top of the Fort Namutoni. This deck is free for overnight visitors to the camp but day visitors must pay a N$100 fee.
There are lots of game loops extending from Namutoni and some of Etosha's prettiest drives and waterholes are north of the Fort. Overall, it's a good base from which to explore the eastern end of Etosha.

Namibia is the ideal safari destination for the whole family - even those with very young children. There are plenty of activities to keep everyone occupied, large parts are malaria-free, there's plenty of accommodation aimed at children, and of course the wildlife and scenery are fantastic.
