A desert-adapted elephant in Darmaland.
Namibia has one of the harshest climates on Earth and according to NASA, also has similar landscapes to Mars, so you might be right in thinking there wasn't much wildlife to see.
However, Namibia has probably the richest diversity of wildlife for such conditions. Etosha, Damaraland and the Caprivi Strip provide a fantastic array of big game: lion, cheetah and leopard are all present in significant numbers, while desert adapted elephant and rhino are virtually endemic.
Along the coast you can kayak amongst hundred-strong seal colonies, or watch penguins and flamingo, whilst birders will not be disappointed by the multitude of bird species on offer.
