Day 1London
You will fly from London to Johannesburg overnight.
In Johannesburg you will connect onto a flight to Windhoek. You'll be met by our agents and driven to your guesthouse for the night. . You can relax beside the pool or explore Windhoek for the afternoon.
Our agents will have your car delivered to your guesthouse and sit down with you and go through your trip
We recommend that you set off after breakfast for Swakopmund to give you plenty of time to enjoy the drive. You may wish to stop at Okahandja to explore the craft market which has thousands of wooden carvings in it. You'll traverse the desert, arriving at the coast by lunchtime. In the afternoon you can potter about the town or down to the beach.
Today we have booked a half day kayaking at Pelican Point for you. This is a fabulous half day trip. You kayak out to a large seal colony and the Cape fur seals jump and splash around the kayak. You'll have coffee on the beach before heading back to town.
There are lots of activities to enjoy Swakopmund and you might like to go dune boarding, take the Living Desert Tour or perhaps go out with one of our professional guides. For the evening we can recommend some excellent seafood restaurants where you can enjoy fresh fish, lobster and Skeleton Coast mussel's at very good prices.
We recommend you set off after breakfast for your drive north into Damaraland. You'll leave the coastal desert behind and head into Damaraland which has dramatic scenery. There are mountains, open plains and dry river beds which are frequented by the desert adapted elephant. You should reach your camp at around lunchtime and you'll have the afternoon to relax or enjoy some activities.
You can enjoy a number of activities from Camp Kipwe. These include guided nature drives in search of the desert-elephant and hot air ballooning. These can both be arranged directly at the lodge and payable for locally.
A second day to explore Damaraland. You may like to join some of Camp Kipwe's other excursions or set off under your own steam to see the beautiful rock engravings at Twfelfontein. This is a lovely morning activity.
Driving east you'll leave the dramatic Damaraland scenery behind you and enter the Etosha National Park with its huge silvery pan. You will stay in the heart of the park at Okaukuejo which has a magnificent floodlit waterhole. Sitting around the waterhole with a cold beer or glass of wine and watching the animals come down is one of Namibia's great experiences!
You have a whole day to self-drive around the park. We will provide you with a map and the trails are well marked, meaning it is very hard to get lost. You may like to traverse the whole park, stopping for a picnic lunch at either Halali or Namutoni, before setting back to Okaukuejo for the night.
A further day to enjoy Etosha's excellent game densities.
After a morning game drive you'll leave the park and head south into the Central Highlands. You will stay at a small friendly guestfarm for the night.
Your final leg takes you from the Central Highlands back to Windhoek Airport. You'll leave your car at the airport and fly to Johannesburg before connecting onto an overnight flight to London.
