Our Tailor-made suggestions for this itinerary are:

  • Finish your trip with the ultimate journey - a Skeleton Coast Safari. This three day trip explores some of Namibia's most inaccessible areas and is rated as one of the top trips to do in Africa.
  • Fly from Windhoek to Maun in Botswana and stay in the Okavango Delta for three nights. - With rivers, lakes and floodplains packed with colourful water birds, hippo and crocodile this wetland environment is a total contrast to Namibia.

Highlights of this itinerary

  • Choose to have your bed made up on the roof of your room in the desert and sleep under the stars.
  • Picnic on top of a sand dune in Sandwich Harbour with only flamingos, pelicans and other seabirds for company.
  • Enjoy guided game drives and walks on the private Ongava Reserve.
  • Get up close to cheetahs at Okonjima, home to the Africat Foundation.

Day by Day

Day 1London

You will fly from London to Johannesburg overnight.

Day 2Johannesburg - Windhoek

On landing you will be met by one of our representatives and driven to Windhoek. Here you will stay at The Elegant Guesthouse for one night. Later today your hire car will be delivered and you will have a full briefing from our ground agents.

Day 3Windhoek - Naukluft Mountains

Today your journey begins as you leave Windhoek and head south towards the Naukluft Mountains. Here you will stay at the lovely Corona Guest Farm tonight.

From Corona you will drive to the Sesriem area where you will stay on the Kulala Reserve at Kulala Desert Lodge. This afternoon you can enjoy a nature drive on the reserve learning about desert flora and fauna.

Day 5Sossusvlei

A full day to enjoy the wonders of the Namib Desert and its massive sand dunes. You can leisurely stroll through the shifting shapes or tackle one of the bigger dunes and try to climb it. Lunch under a shady tree will be the reward for whatever you decide to do in the Vlei.

Day 6Sossusvlei - Swakopmund

Today your journey continues as you drive to the coast to the wonderful small town of Swakopmund. Swakopmund is full of character and it has plenty on offer. Why not try one of the fine restaurants in town tonight. A particular favourite of mine is the Tug Seafood restaurant.

Day 7Swakopmund

Today I have provisionally booked you a tour of Sandwich Harbour - this is an exhilarating day trip giving you the opportunity to visit the dramatic coastline where the dunes meet the sea and learn about the fascinating coastal ecosystem of this area.

Day 8Swakopmund - Damaraland

Leaving Swakopmund make your to Damaraland and stay at Doro !Nawas where you will stay for the next two nights.

Day 9Damaraland

Explore Damaraland either under your own steam or on activities arranged by Doro !Nawas.

Day 10Damaraland - Etosha National Park

Day 11Etosha National Park

Today will have the opportunity to either explore Etosha National Park or go on game drives in the Ongava Reserve. Being a private reserve there is also the opportunity to join a night drive.

Day 12Etosha National Park

Another chance to visit Etosha National Park, the awesome salt pan and the many waterholes. Alternatively a highlight at Ongava is that it is one of the few private game reserves in southern Africa where you have a chance of seeing both black and white rhino.

Day 14Central Highlands - Windhoek - Johannesburg

After a morning activity you will depart Okonjima for the easy drive back to Windhoek International Airport (approx. 3 hours). Drop-off your hire car and proceed to check-in for your return flight to Johannesburg and then London.
