  • Self Drive

The most economical and by far the most popular way to experience South Africa is on a self drive. The roads are good, traffic tends to be light and driving is on the left.

Mont Rochelle Hotel

Franschhoek, The Cape Region & Winelands

Mont Rochelle (formerly La Couronne) is one of the best hotels in the Winelands, combining a wonderfully exclusive location with superb views, elegant surroundings and easy access to some of the country's best restaurants and vineyards in Franschhoek.

Set on a hill overlooking the town, with commanding vistas of the valley and forested mountain slopes, the hotel has contemporary styling with a strong African influence in the design, and attention to detail throughout. There are 22 rooms, split between three different buildings, and plentiful lounges and areas to unwind and enjoy the views. The facilities are excellent with large pool, sauna, jacuzzi and treatment rooms as well as two good restaurants - the fine-dining Mange Tout, and the more informal vineyard restaurant, Country Kitchen. The colonial bar also serves light snacks.
