Nkambeni Tented Lodge
Kruger National Park, Kruger & The Escarpment
The tented camp is set within The Kruger National Park in its own private 'Big 5' 11,000 hectare concession. This property, although basic, offers the best value accommodation for a private reserve within the Kruger Park and is fenced to provide safety from the animals.
Whilst the camp has 150 tents they are all laid out amongst mature vegetation making it feel deceptively smaller than it is. Each permanent tent comprises a solid wooden floor, canvas sides and an outside decking area with two comfortable chairs giving you a real tented feel to your safari. The rooms are of a good size with double beds, wardrobe, ceiling fan, tea and coffee and en-suite facilities. The bathrooms are basic and shower only but you can choose between either indoor or outdoor hot showers.
The main public areas are located within a large permanent canvas building which comprises of the buffet restaurant, lounge area and the bar. From the veranda you have views of The Kruger and also the large freeform swimming pool and a viewing deck that overlooks a dam with its resident hippo.
Breakfast is a buffet served between 05:30 and 09:00 which allows a steady flow of clients throughout the morning as people return at different times from their activities. Lunch is a limited a la carte menu served in the bar due to many clients being out all day on game drives. Dinner alternates between a buffet and a boma meal which is located next to the main tent. The buffet is extensive offering a choice of hot main meals and salads with desert and tea and coffee is available throughout the day.
