Franschhoek

Tucked into the end of a valley, Franschhoek is arguably the prettiest town in the Winelands, and with its surrounding mountains it is somewhat reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands.

Settled more than 300 years ago by the Huguenots, most of the farms still bear their original French names. There are a variety of cellars, from small boutique wineries that cater for those in search of something unique, and large cellars that offer organized tours and conducted tastings.

Wine estates we recommended in Franschhoek

  • Boschendal - A fascinating and historical place & there are great picnics you can buy to enjoy in the grounds.
  • Haute Cabriere - The perfect place to enjoy a spot of sparkling wine and a lovely view.
  • Le Petite Ferme - This estate is located just outside Franschhoek, perched on the hillside. The views are stunning from here and it has an excellent restaurant for a spot of lunch.
