Day 1London
Today you will have an overnight flight to South Africa.
Upon your arrival at Cape Town International Airport you will be met by an Audley Representative and your vouchers will be given to you. You will then be transferred to your hotel, The Four Rosmead where you will spend three nights.
A day to explore Cape Town. You could take the cable car up Table Mountain to enjoy the amazing views over the city or take a half day city tour to see the castle, the Company Gardens, the historic Malay Quarter and the colourful Bo-Kaap.
Your hire car will be dropped off at the property at 09:00 in the morning. We suggest that you drive around the Cape Peninsula. The route down to Cape Point takes in the Chapman’s Peak drive, some of the pretty villages along the coastline and untouched beaches. A stop at Boulders is highly recommended to see the penguin colony.
You will drive out of Cape Town into the Wine Regions to the pretty village of Franschhoek. You have the day to explore the Winelands or simply relax and enjoy walking around the boutique shops of Franschhoek. You will have two nights at La Fontaine Guest House in the heart of Franschhoek.
Today you have the whole day exploring the Winelands. There are hundreds of farms in the area so speak to us for some particularly good recommendations.
you will drive to Swellendam, half way between Cape Town and the Garden Route and in the shadow of the Overberg Mountains. There are a lot of places to visit around Swellendam and a few lovely art shops and restaurant in town. You will stay at Rothman Manor for one night.
A drive to Plettenberg Bay today which is located at the far east of the Garden Route. This is an ideal base for all the activities and attractions along the Garden Route. The town is known for its beautiful white sandy beaches and a relaxing stroll on the beach is a lovely way to wind down after a busy day of sightseeing. You will stay at the Cottage Pie Guesthouse for three nights.
Today we recommend that you visit the Tsitsikamma Forest, a 45 minute drive from Plettenberg Bay. En route to the forest you will drive over high bridges built over steep canyons, through which the rivers flow to the ocean. This is spectacular and worth stopping to have a look down one of the deep gorges. At the forest you will come to a swing bridge over which you can walk and view the amazing Storms River Mouth. This is where the Storms River and ocean meet.
A further day to enjoy the many attractions in and around Plettenberg Bay..
You will drive on to the Game Reserves of the Eastern Cape and stay at The Elephant House, close to the Addo Elephant National Park.
Today you could either self-drive to the Addo Elephant National Park or join a guided trip led by the Elephant House's own experienced elephant ranger.
A further day on safari.
After lunch you'll head to Port Elizabeth and catch a flight to Johannesburg. Here you'll connect onto an overnight flgiht to London.
