This evening you will depart London Heathrow on the overnight flight to Cape Town.
On arrival you will be met by one of our representatives who will give you vouchers and comprehensive directions for the rest of your trip. You will then be driven to your Waterfront Village apartment where you will spend the next 3 nights.
There are five swimming pools here, and an array of restaurants and cafes right on your doorstep, as well as self-catering facilities in your apartment. This makes your time here totally flexible to suit your family's needs entirely.
There are plenty of exciting excursions to enjoy in and around Cape Town for families to enjoy.
A fantastic excursions is a field trip with Uthando into a township to see the projects that are going on to help those less fortunate in South Africa. Uthando is a charity that Audley actively supports and it is fascinating to see a sample of the projects that it supports. This is an inspirational and eye-opening tour to see another side of life in South Africa.
This morning your car will be delivered to you at your apartment. A lovely option is driving to Cape Point for a day trip. This is an amazing drive beginning with Chapman`s Peak and passing through a number of villages on stunning untouched beaches. On the way back from Cape Point may sure you stop at Boulder`s Beach - home to several thousand penguins which swim in the surf and play on the sand.
Today you leave Cape Town and begin your journey along the Garden Route until you reach Swellendam where you will stay for the night, breaking up the journey on the way to Plettenberg Bay.
Leaving Swellendam you will spend today driving along the Garden Route to Plettenberg Bay. We highly recommend going via the Route 62 as this is a beautiful drive. In Plettenberg you will spend three nights at Lairds Lodge situated in lovely gardens just outside town. There is a pool here, making it a great place to relax after a day out exploring.
There is plenty to do in and around Plettenberg, particularly for families. The "Ocean Safari" is highly recommended and takes you to visit the thousands of seals on the rocky coastline and if you are lucky you may see whales and dolphins, too.
A second enjoying your time in Plettenberg. Today you may like to take a day trip to the Tsitsikamma Forest approximately 45 mins away. Here you can walk across a swing bridge over the Storms River mouth - quite a spectacular sight. There are also some really great walks in this area.
Departing Plettenberg you will drive around three and a half hours to reach the Amakhala Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape where you will stay at Woodbury Lodge for the next 3 nights. The afternoon game drive usually departs around 3/3.30pm so try to arrive in plenty of time for this.
A day on safari at Amakhala. You will enjoy twice daily safari excursions. These depart when then wildlife is at its most active in the early morning and late afternoon and consist of game-drives in open sided Land Rovers, or boat trips on the beautiful Bushman's River.
Another day on safari. There is fantastic wildlife here on the Amakhala Reserve, including lion, buffalo, elephant, rhino, cheetah, leopard as well as plenty of antelope species, zebra, giraffe and diverse species of birdlife.
Today you will drive back to Port Elizabeth Airport in time to catch your return flight to Johannesburg. From here you will connect with the overnight flight back to London Heathrow.
