For varying reasons of geography and politics, the northeastern corner of KwaZulu-Natal has seen clashes between numerous armies, including British, Boer and Zulu.

There are names that resound in the psyche of all three peoples: Isandlwana, Rorke’s Drift, Spioenkop and Blood River to name just a few.
