Reasons To
Visit Tanzania

  • Beaches

It is extremely easy to add some beach relaxation in Zanzibar after a tiring safari on the mainland; the beaches are stunning and diving is excellent. You don't have to travel far either as the island is only a 30 minute flight from Dar Es Salaam. Tanzania is therefore the ideal location to combine a safari and beach break.

  • Big Cats & Safari Wildlife

Tanzania has some of Africa's most famous and best national parks and reserves where you are guaranteed fantastic big cat sightings. The Serengeti, Selous and the Crater are just some of the best game viewing areas to visit.

  • Birds

Tanzania has more than 1,000 species of birds and some spectacular places to view them. Lake Natron is also the only known breeding ground for East Africa's millions of lesser flamingos which cover the lake between August and October.

  • Chimpanzees

The Mahale Mountains - towering almost 2km above the shore of Lake Tanganyika are home to some of the last remaining wild chimpanzees. There are currently around 900 which are habituated to humans, and tracking them is a magical experience.

  • Great Migration

One of the highlights of the Serengeti National park is the great annual migration which passes through this amazing wilderness. Up to 1.8 million wildebeest and zebra have been counted doing their annual trip in search of the sweet grasses and the rains.

  • Local Culture

Tanzania has an evocative mix of people and cultures with 120 ethnic groups making up the diverse population. The largest group are the Sukuma but perhaps the most memorable are the Maasai who you will often see in Northern Tanzania herding their cattle, goats and sheep.

Kinasi Lodge

Tanzania's Swahili Coast

Kinasi Lodge has fourteen rustic bungalows situated in pretty gardens sloping down to a small sandy beach.

The gardens are studded with palm trees and bursting with tropical flowers. Through the brilliant colours you can always see the turquoise sea and often the billowing white sails of dhows as they float past.

You can happily swim from the beach in front of the lodge when the tide is in or around the corner five minutes walk away is a lovely long beach which is wonderful for swimming from all day long. Each bungalow is private and peaceful.

There are cool shady verandas with big hammocks outside whilst inside you'll find rich fabrics, tall Zanzibari beds, old chests, cool stone floors and spacious bathrooms. The central lodge houses a bar, lounge, dining room and extensive library. There are plenty of books to read and a selection of board games.

Food is good at Kinasi with superb seafood dishes and spicy Zanzibari cuisine.

Finally, Kinasi has a delightful pool, a small dive centre which can organise snorkelling and diving trips for people of all abilities and small selection of sailboats. Other activities on offer include kayaking, boat trips to neighbouring islands, guided village walks, nature and bird walks through mangroves and day-trips to the pristine Marimbani sandbank where you can sunbathe, snorkel and enjoy a picnic lunch.

On a white sandy beach, Kinasi is a lovely lodge for a really relaxing and peaceful stay.
