Mdonya Old River Camp
Ruaha National Park
Mdonya Old River Camp is a small camp located near the Mdonya Falls in the Ruaha National Park.
There are 10 tents, under sycamore, fig and acacia trees dotted around a clearing in the bush: each is simple, but comfortable, furnished with double or twin beds veiled by mosquito nets and with verandahs where one can relax and observe the wildlife around. They keep the feel of the original explorations in Tanzania, and are lit only by candlelight, while the en suite bathrooms are open to the stars.
The dining and lounge tents are under fig trees overlooking the dry river bed which is used by game as a corridor.
There are two prides of lion living very close to camp which can often be seen or heard at night! Dinner is often eaten outside, where guests are lit from one side by the campfire and from above by moonlight.
