Selous Impala Camp
Selous Game Reserve
Selous Impala camp is set among borassus palms and tamarind trees on the banks of the Rufiji River.
As there are no fences, game is free to wander through the camp. Guests are escorted to and from their tents in the evenings by Maasai warriors, just in case any of the animals are a little too inquisitive.
The camp has eight luxury tents set on high wood decking with magnificent views of the river and the forest beyond. They are furnished in a colonial style and have bedrooms, a dressing room and an en suite bathroom. There is a double zipped entrance to keep out insects, and roll down canvas on the windows.
In the centre of camp there is a large and comfortable thatched low-slung building where there is a relaxed open plan area with a well stocked bar, dining room and a verandah filled with planter chairs and sofas.
You can relax on the verandah and watch the game by the river with a cool drink in your hand. Nearby is a sheltered swimming pool - perfect for the heat of the day.
Activities from camp include boat trips, game drives, walking safaris and fly camping (this must be pre-booked). The camp is located near to a network of channels, connecting lakes and lagoons which offer guests the opportunity to go on safari by boat and experience the spectacular concentration of wildlife and birds (over 300 species in the area).
Game drives and walking excursions are also very rewarding.
