Day 1London
This evening you will check in for your international flight to Dar Es Salaam.
Upon your arrival you will be met and transferred from the international terming to the domestic terminal where you will check in for your light aircraft flight to the Selous. As you come in to land in the Selous, keep your eyes peeled for the game wandering below you! A driver will be waiting at the airstrip to take you to camp, from where you will spend the rest of the afternoon on safari.
A full day on safari in the Selous. Often you will go out for a game drive early in the morning, returning for lunch and a snooze in the heat of the day. Later, as it cools down and the animals become more active, you will head back out into the bush.
Activities from Selous Safari Camp. At some point during your stay, I can recommend taking a late afternoon boat safari on the water in front of your camp, keeping an eye out for hippos popping up to say hello, and tiny malachite kingfishers diving in and out of the water.
After breakfast this morning you will be taken to the airstrip in time for your light aircraft flight to Zanzibar. You will be met at Zanzibar Airport and transferred by private vehicle across the island to the stunning East Coast. The drive will take around two hours, and weaves through colourful villages and spice plantations on the way. Once you arrive at Breezes you can get settled in to your room and spend the rest of the day relaxing in the sunshine on the beach or by the swimming pool.
You will have a free day to relax at Breezes. The spa here is particularly nice so I can recommend lying back and allowing yourself to be spoiled.
Another day to enjoy Breezes. If you want to be out and about today, I`d suggest doing a Blue Safari trip - it`s a full day boat trip which departs from the south coast of the island, and takes you to hidden beaches and small islands - you often encounter dolphins along the way, and you`ll stop at midday for a lovely barbeque lunch on the beach. This is a really great day out and will give you the chance to see a different part of the island.
A day at leisure at Breezes Beach Club- if you are keen on animals you might enjoy a dolphin safari trip from the southern tip of the island on one of your days on Zanzibar. I can advise going as early as possible, as this can get busy later on.
You will have a whole day enjoy Breezes. I would recommend doing a spice tour for one day of your stay - it`s one of my favourite things to do in Zanzibar - you can taste and smell the spices for which the island is famous on your walk around the spice plantation.
Free time on Zanzibar. On one day of your trip you might like to do a half day excursion to the Jozani Forest in the centre of the island, as a change from the beach. It`s a lovely drive through small villages, and the forest is home to the rare red colobus monkeys that originate from Zanzibar. This makes a great change of scene from the beach and is perfect if you`re looking to do something a bit different.
Today you can enjoy an early breakfast before your driver transports you to the airport - the drive takes a couple of hours and passes through pretty rural scenery and small villages on the way. You will fly by light aircraft to Dar Es Salaam and from here you will check in for your international flight back to the UK which is a day flight.
