Kakuli
South Luangwa National Park
Kakuli has five safari tents set on an elevated stretch of river bank overlooking a wide grazing lawn that follows the Luangwa River until it meets the confluence of the Luwi and Luangwa.
There are five walk-in tents with beds, bedside tables, simple wardrobes and large shady verandas. The en-suite bathrooms are open air and huge. They have basins, WC and hot showers, that legend has it, once an elephant drank from! The bar and dining chitenje is constructed of reed and thatch and forms the centre point of camp.
There's a fire in-front of it around which everyone gathers both before and after dinner.
Activities at Kakuli focus on walks, although it is also possible to do day and night game drives.
