Accommodation in Zambia: Mfuwe Lodge
Mfuwe Lodge is a great place to stay as it has every comfort and yet it is still in Luangwa park. We particularly love the hippo pool in front of the lodge. You can sit on your balcony and there's always something to see from the hippos and birds to animals coming to drink from the waters.

Mfuwe Lodge
South Luangwa National Park
Mfuwe Lodge is situated in a prime location in the South Luangwa Park.
It overlooks the Mfuwe Lagoon which is home to a large pod of hippos and is covered in brilliant green Nile cabbage - it's very pretty.
Entering the lodge you'll find high beamed ceilings and thatch roofs. There is an open plan dining room, lounge and bar area that lead onto a lovely big pool deck with views of a smaller lagoon.
Paths lead to eighteen well appointed timber and thatch chalets, two that are split-level suites and two that are family rooms. Every chalet overlooks the lagoon and has a large sunny deck. Sitting on your chair you can watch the hippos wallow and splash in the water in front of you.
Inside the chalets are stylish and spacious with and they have double or twin beds, walk-in mosquito nets, fans, writing desks, fridge and en-suite bathrooms. The sunken baths also have wonderful views through the large windows.
The split level suites are entered through an upper lounge and deck area and the bedroom and bathroom is below with another spacious decking. There are wide expanses of polished wooden floor, rich rugs and beautiful pottery - not a detail has been overlooked.
In the dry season, the lagoon decreases in size but is a fabulous place as it attracts wildlife to these small oases. Mfuwe Lodge is in a very good network of game tracks and activities focus on morning, evening and night drives in open 4WDs.

It’s a time of plenty, when animals take full advantage of the abundant food to give birth to their young, and when the valley is at its most colourful.
