Nkwali Camp
South Luangwa National Park
Nkwali Camp is located on Robin Pope's private land, overlooking the South Luangwa National Park.
The land is superb game-viewing country, with a beautiful area of ebony woodland and open grass plains. Elephants often cross the Luangwa near the lodge and crocodiles can been seen lazing on the sandbanks in front of the lodge.
Nkwali has 6 luxurious chalets spaced along the river banks. Each has large bedroom with double or twin beds, sweeping mosquito nets, tasteful furniture and large en-suite bathroom with WC, basins and hot shower. There is one suite that has an enormous bedroom and spacious bathroom with two showers, as well as a day room with two single beds and another smaller bathroom.
The large bar, built around an ebony tree has lots of books, comfortable chairs and stunning river views. Dining is either in the open sided thatch dining room or outside under the stars. Sometimes, the camp even sets up dinners on the sandbanks in the middle of the river!

The Luangwa Valley is one of Africa's premier game viewing destinations but often remains criminally overlooked during the Green Season – November to May. It’s a time of plenty, when animals take full advantage of the abundant food to give birth to their young, and when the valley is at its most colourful.
