Day by Day

Day 1London

You will fly from London to Lusaka on an overnight flight with BA.

Day 2Lusaka Airport - South Luangwa National Park

On arrival in Lusaka you will connect onto a flight to Mfuwe, gateway to Zambia's South Luangwa National Park. A guide will meet you to the airport, drive you through the small village of Mfuwe and to Nkwali Lodge. Nkwali overlooks the Luangwa River and there is often a pod of hippos below camp. You will be able to relax in the lodge or head out on your first game viewing excursion.

Day 3South Luangwa National Park

This trip is designed to be taken in Zambia's Emerald or Green Season. This is a wonderful time to visit the park as the vegetation is bright green and very lush. Birds are in bright breeding plumage and antelope drop their young, leading to nurseries of tottering impala, puku and more. You will be able to explore the park by means of open 4wds and on boats on the river.

Day 4South Luangwa National Park

The Green Season is traditionally an excellent time for photography as there is little dust in the air and you can have terrific sunsets. You often get thunderstorms at this time, however they tend to be short sharp bursts before the sun reappears. With bright colours surrounding you images are full of colour and contrast.

Day 5South Luangwa National Park

During your Green Season safari we can highly recommend going out on a boat trip. You can explore the Luangwa River and head off into waterways and flooded lagoons. Boat trips are an excellent way to see hippo, crocodile and a myriad of waterbirds.

Day 6South Luangwa National Park

As well as birds and young antelope it is entirely possible to enjoy some excellent big game during the Green Season. Elephant, leopard, lion, buffalo and more are all present and game viewing at this time of year can often be extremely rewarding.

Day 7South Luangwa National Park

One of the highlights of the Green Season is having the park to yourself. Many visitors don't know about this time of year and thus stay away. You can therefore explore the park and enjoy the most wonderful game viewings without another soul around.

Day 8South Luangwa National Park - Mfuwe - Lusaka Airport - Lusaka

Today marks the end of your safari. You will be driven back to the airport where you will catch a flight to Lusaka. On arrival in Lusaka you will be driven to the Eight Reedbuck hotel for the night.

Day 9Lusaka

Your driver will collect you early in the morning and take you back to Lusaka Airport. You will catch a direct BA flight to London, arriving back in the early evening.
