Livingstone & Victoria Falls
Zambia
Viewing the mighty cataracts of the Victoria Falls has to be one of life's most memorable experiences.
The Zambezi River pours cascades of white water over the lip of the falls, the thunder surrounds you and rainbows shine across the mist. Vervet monkeys chatter in the dripping trees and trumpeter hornbills swoop across the gorge. It’s an awesome sight; one of the great wonders of the world.
David Livingstone's description of Victoria Falls
"It had never been seen before by European eyes. Scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight".
Such were the words of the great missionary and explorer David Livingstone, in describing his impressions of the Victoria Falls.
Livingstone town
Ten kilometres from the Victoria Falls, Livingstone town has sprung to life with lots of small guesthouses, lively markets and operators offering every activity from helicopter rides to bungee jumping, exhilarating white-water rafting trips and gentle boat cruises on the Zambezi.
We recommend staying outside the town in one of the quiet lodges on the Zambezi River. From here you can visit the Victoria Falls as well as go on sunset boat trips, kayak trips, walks and visits to village markets.
