Accommodation in Australia: Sails in the Desert Hotel
Our Rating: Deluxe
Sails in the Desert Hotel
Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Central & Outback Australia
Nestled behind sand dunes, Ayers Rock Resort lies hidden from view to those visiting the National Park. The resort has endeavoured to reflect sensitivity towards the environment and respect for the area's traditional Aboriginal owners.
Huge sails provide shade, solar panels generate power and native trees flourish throughout on green lawns alive with a multitude of birds. Sails in the Desert is the resort's premier hotel and is exquisitely furnished and designed with the interior décor focussing on Aboriginal heritage and culture.
The rooms are all well furnished and spacious and the grounds are lovely, perfect for an evening of relaxation. There are also fine dining restaurants and the Mulgara Gallery showcasing Aboriginal art.
Friendly staff tend to be young and only working in the Red Centre for up to six months so service levels may differ from those found in other five star resorts.
