Accommodation in Australia: Villa Donati
Our Rating: First Class
Villa Donati
Melbourne, Southeast Australia
This lovely two-storey villa was built in 1885 as the private residence of the distinguished architect and mayor John Bernard Augustus Koch, and is a classic example of Italianate architecture.
It has since, at different times, served as the residence for the Anglican Archbishop and the infamous Moulin Rouge massage parlour. Today it is a quiet, private retreat located in Richmond, one of Melbourne’s most popular districts, minutes by tram or train from the sights.
Each room is individually furnished and the charming guest lounge with its veranda where breakfast is served is the ideal place to relax.
