Melbourne celebrates the arts18311746Melbourne's annual International Arts Festival is running his year from October 11th to 27th, with a celebration of all types of art and culture from around the world.

The program officially begins with Holly Crawford's Sound Art Limo project, which she describes as "a moment in art".

Ten passengers at a time take a ride in a limousine while being played historical sound art works from the Tellusmedia/Harvestworks archives in New York as they travel across Melbourne.

Thereafter over 17 days, festivalgoers can enjoy contemporary art, photography and drama, including an acclaimed production of The Temptation of Saint Anthony at the State Theatre.

Artwork will be installed all across the city, specially shipped over from all corners of the globe, including Ernesto Neto's Otheranima, Rauschenberg's Minutiae and Walkaround Time.

The organisers say of the festival: "This year's program will engage and surprise, inspire laughter, awe and contemplation."
