The Yarnballa Arts and Cultural Festival in Flinders will run between October 23rd and 26th and has been boosted by the news that the Port Augusta City Council has donated AUS$50,000 to the event's organisers.

Organiser Diat Alderink spoke of his excitement and of his hopes for the future.

"Yarnballa is going to be a very important historical and cultural event for Port Augusta and South Australia," he said.

"It's very exciting to be part of and we look forward to this cultural festival continuing on in the future."

The event will showcase the 27 language groups that make up the Aboriginal community in Port Augusta and will see an influx of visitors, including many interested travellers and backpackers.

It will open with a celebration and continue with three days of art, dance and song.
