Journey to an erupting volcano: 29-08-2007

A report from AAP has proclaimed the Yasur volcano on the island of Tana, just off the eastern Australian coast, as the most accessible active volcano in the world.
Visitors to the volcano are able to be driven to 150m from the edge of the crater, where they can take a ten minute walk to look in and even touch the crater's rim.
It is even possible to send a mail from the volcano, though the service might be slow, as a postcard was said to have taken ten days to reach Sydney.
In 2004, approximately 500 explosions a day were detected by the GVP/USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report.
The island of Tana is part of the island nation of Vanuatu, with the Yasur volcano discovered by Captain James Cook in 1774.
Instructions for visiting run along the lines of: "Don't panic when blasts (especially the first one) go off. Don't try to run when debris fly in the air - just be calm and watch so you can dodge the red-hot molten rocks as they fly towards you.
"And, make sure your body is covered completely in clothes to shield your skin from smoke and ash, and wear your sunglasses."
