South Australia is a year-round destination, with the driest capital in Australia, and has four distinct seasons which are opposite to ours. If you like the heat, the summer, in November-February is the time to go, when you can expect hot, dry, sunny days. The outback is very accessible from Adelaide and will be extremely hot at this time of year, with temperatures often exceeding 40°C. March and April are autumn time, when the temperature can still be quite hot, whilst the sea will be at its warmest.
In the winter, from May to August, the coastal areas are mild during the day with cold evenings. This is the best time to visit the outback, enjoying warm days and cool, crisp nights. September and October are spring, but the sea is still surprisingly brisk during these months. Expect lovely mild days and cool nights.
