Take a scenic flight over Southwest National Park

The immensity of Tasmania''s wilderness has to be seen from the air to be believed, in fact it is nigh on impossible to access in any other way unless you are willing to trek by foot for several days in a row. A scenic flight will take you over the craggy peaks of the Western Arthur Range, taking in glinting tarns, hidden glacial lakes and impenetrable horizontal scrub, before landing at the tiny dirt airstrip that is Melaleuca. Here you will explore the newly listed marine reserve of Bathurst Harbour, before returning to Hobart via some of the rugged southern coastline.

Take a walk around Wineglass Bay

Wineglass Bay is picture postcard Australia - squeaky clean chalk-white sand arching breathtakingly in a half-crescent moon, lush green forest one side, crystal clear turquoise water the other. On a clear day, where the contrast is set to travel magazine cover-shot standards, you will be hard pushed to find a more iconic image of Tasmania. And it is this photo from the top of the reach, looking down on the bay with it all laid out before you, that should help provide you with the motivation to make it up those final steps.
