There are two seasons on the Great Barrier Reef, the first of which is a hot and wet season, from November through to May, with the majority of rain falling in January and February. The temperatures range from 24 to 33°C. This is followed by a ‘cool’ and dry season from June to October where temperatures range between 14 and 26°C with clearer, more sunny days.
October to May is stinger season and stinger suits are highly recommended in the water.
